Q&AWhy Martial Arts?Unlike any other form of exercise Martial Arts not only can help you in your fitness endeavors but also give you the knowledge of self-defense, these tools could be the very thing that help save you or a loved ones life.
What can Martial Arts do for me?Raise your level of flexibility, strength, mind control, focus, self-awareness, confidence and help yourself to de-stress, like many of the forms of exercise here at Temple Arts. However, along with these terrific skills you will also have the benefit of self-defense in a Martial Arts Program.
What type of Martial Arts is right for me?It depends on your level of fitness and health. There are the softer/internal approaches like Taiji and QiGong, with there are slower flowing movements and energy work. These MA styles are good for anyone looking to center, de-stress, or if they have injuries. The harder/external approaches to MA are Kung Fu, Muay Thai, and Arnis. These styles have fast powerful movements designed to take down enemies hard and fast. Do I have to compete?Absolutely not, Temple Arts instructors will never pressure you to do something you do not feel comfortable with. In fact many students prefer to train then compete. However if you do choose to compete the Temple Arts’ family will be your biggest fans, cheering you on all the way, in the tournament and at practice where your professional coaches will perfect your performance and show you the ins and outs to getting that gold! Do I have to spar?Again no, you do not have to do anything that you feel uncomfortable with. Many students are apprehensive about there first time in the ring. We do highly suggest you try it at least once with an instructor that will tap out strikes lightly at first to get you accustomed to sparring. It is so import to put the principles you learn in class to practice in the closer to real life experience of sparring. This will help you prepare for the moment that may come when you really need to use these powerful techniques without panicking and forgetting everything you have learned. |
