How does my child become a member of the Junior Artists’ Dance Enrichment (JADE) Program, and what does his or her membership include? In order to become a member of J.A.D.E., students will have to audition for the program. Auditions are run by current and past professional dancers from different companies and training programs like Miami City Ballet, Animate Objects Physical Theatre, The Alvin Ailey School, and more. We have formal auditions semi-annually: One in the winter and the other during the summer. The winter audition takes place near the Broward County Public School’s winter vacation time, and the summer audition generally takes place in July, directly following our two-week Summer Dance Intensive. The Summer Dance Intensive is the official prep course for J.A.D.E. Each member of J.A.D.E. will be placed in technique classes according to individual technique levels, some in Level B and some in Level A, and all Company members will have exclusive classes that are solely for members of the Company. During these classes, J.A.D.E. members will be learning classical and contemporary ballet techniques, classical and contemporary ballet styles, Latin dance, Afro-Caribbean Dance, and different modern techniques including Horton, Graham and Cunningham! |
