Belly Dance

Bio

"What separates me from other Middle Eastern dancers is my unquenchable infatuation with the art of Bellydance and the overwhelming amount of love I have for my students. For me, there is no greater satisfaction than to assist my students in their own self discovery. Beginning Middle Eastern Dance can be a particularly tedious task; learning to isolate the small, specific muscles in your body and establishing the mind-body connection necessary takes time and continual drilling. But in the end, it is not merely about learning glute squeezes and undulations, it is more than just learning to move your body in a way it can yet hasn't before, it's about jai bhagwan: the victory and the journey one embarks upon within oneself." - Christina Hanna

Christina Hanna was introduced to the World of Bellydance in her High School days when her Pakistani friend, Lucia Alghrouz, introduced her to the Egyptian Cabaret style. Being of Cuban and Filipina heritage, dance has always been apart of her artistic expression. She has had the pleasure of studying with the world-renowned Suhaila Salimpour, Tamalyn Dallal, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, and Tamra-henna. She is currently a Dance Major at Nova Southeastern University and is furthering her study of Middle Eastern dance with teachers Brianna Austin of Masala Fusion and Leigh Ammon specializing in American Tribal Style.

Before relocating to South Florida, Christina previously gave her dance instruction in Landing, New Jersey and has performed at several Haflas and Festivals including the New York Renaissance Faire and also Rakkasah East 2008. Her Tribal Fusion interpretation of the art form of Raqs Sharqi incorporates various elements and styles of dance and unique music choices. Her classes incorporate all three main styles of Bellydance (ATS, Egyptian, and Fusion), and strictly focus on both proper technique and dance choreography. You can see Christina perform at various events across South Florida including the Miami Bellydance Convention every September.
